U.S. Navy veteran Michaele A.J. Stewart served as a hospital corpsman during the Persian Gulf War, Desert Shield and Desert Storm, among other combat assignments. Now retired from the military, Mr. Stewart continues to serve his country, working in logistics at the Tuskegee Veterans Administration Medical Center. He lives in Montgomery with his wife, Pamela, and eight children from the ages 4 months to 13 years.
Mr. Stewart and his family rely on their 1992 12-passenger Chevrolet van to travel to home school events, medical appointments, visit family and attend church functions. The van stopped running altogether in January, but due to financial constraints, the family could not afford the extensive repairs needed. The MOPH Department of Alabama nominated Mr. Stewart to participate in AAMCO’s initiative.
“Our van had multiple problems, and our family was in a pinch in the worst possible way, but AAMCO went above and beyond the standard care that was expected,” said Mr. Stewart. ”If there were more companies in America like the AAMCO in Montgomery and its staff, I am sure that America could get up on her feet once again.”
Mr. Stewart and his family picked up their newly repaired van on April 16 from the AAMCO of Montgomery service center, at 110 Eastdale Road South, where the services were provided free of charge. Repairs were made to the transmission, fuel pump, the air conditioning and heating system, brake pads, and parking lights. Additional services were performed to ensure Mr. Stewart’s vehicle will continue to serve him and his family for years to come.
“It’s an honor to have an opportunity to support those who protect our freedom and give so much in the process,” said Patrick Moton, owner of theA AMCO of Montgomery center.
